Veneer Makoré
BackDetailed Description
A tree up to 30 m tall with a lower diameter of up to 160 cm, well formed, very straight, cylindrical shaft without breter roots. The bark is reddish-grey with deep longitudinal furrows and white milky sap.

Occurrence
Makore grows in the Ivory Coast, in West Africa from Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Congo and Cameroon.
Characteristic and wood color
The sapwood is narrow, yellowish to light brown, sometimes greyish pink. The heartwood is pink to brown-red, later on it turns brownish. The wood has a wavy grain and often twisted growth, therefore often moiré and very decorative. The pores are medium sized and arranged in radial groups.
