Detailed Description

With around 800 species, eucalyptus is one of the most diverse and, in terms of the timber industry, one of the most important wood species. A tall tree from 60 to over 100 m and with huge trunk diameters at the base of up to 7 m. Shaft up to 30 m knotless and on average 3 m thick. Extremely fast-growing when young, very little growth later in the ripening period. About 300 to 400 years are expected before reaching full height. The tree is also called "Blue Gum" because of the bluish green of its leaves. It is cultivated as a "fever healing tree" in malaria areas. It thrives well in a humid, warm climate, very well in warm and dry areas.
