Characteristic and wood color

Sapwood and heartwood well set off. The sapwood is very broad, unusable, dirty white to light brown. The heartwood is black and nicely marked by reddish brown stripes, therefore very decorative. The wood is very heavy and of fine structure. Wood with brown, greenish or yellowish tones are easy to stain and polish black and are absolutely colour-fast.
