NoteThe real wood veneer sheets are layer-glued into a block and then sliced again into veneer sheets. This creates the fine and linear structure with the natural depth and lustre of the wood. The respective type of wood is always used, without changing the colour by bleaching or dyeing. Only the colour of the glue is sometimes changed.

Detailed Description

The birch is very fast-growing and reaches heights of up to 30 m with diameters of up to about 90 cm, but generally less. The shaft is straight and well grown and knotless up to 10 m. The bark is milky white and peels off in thin cross bands. With age it becomes pied and thick-barked.

Characteristic and wood color

Sapwood and heartwood are not different. The wood is yellowish-white to reddish-white, practically without heartwood, matt-gloss, with pith flecks inside the wood body, similar to alder. Depending on the grain, the wood is plain to decorative, whereby particularly beautifully grained wood, so-called "flame birch", comes especially from Sweden and Finland.
